Village Board plans to extend sidewalks and lighting on Route 29

In 2011, the village completed the $1.2 million project to create the veterans memorial and to install ornamental lighting and new sidewalks along a few blocks along Main Street at the top of the hill. The project provided a face-lift to the village’s most visible corridor, and the business owners on those blocks have responded well, according to Village Trustee Fred Lang.

The Village Board likes the sidewalks and street lights that were installed on Main Street in 2011 so much that it recently voted to extend the streetscaping along Illinois Route 29 to the town’s southern border. (source)

  1. I like it.

This improvement should be a high priority. Finished, it might actually attract businesses back.
