new-jobs-ahead

Jeanne Davis, currently the superintendent of Creve Coeur District 76, has accepted the position of superintendent of Community Unit School District 97 in Lewistown starting July 1st, 2013.  Her time in Creve Coeur was marked by political struggles. Davis was placed in administrative leave in January 2010, scheduled to be replaced by Canton educator Lan Eberle, then given a five-year contract after a new School Board was seated in May of that year.

Davis said she is sad about leaving Creve Coeur “for a variety of reasons,” but a lot of good work was done there. She said Lewistown officials understand the situation. (source)

  1. HERE IS THE WHOLE STORY

LEWISTOWN — Starting July 1, Jeanne Davis will be the superintendent of Community Unit School District 97.

“We see her as someone with strong leadership skills,” CUSD 97 board President Dick Well said Tuesday. “We need someone with her skills to come and fix our district educationally and financially.”

On academic watch status, with 39 percent of its students living below the poverty line and a fragile budget, Lewistown offers challenges which should be familiar to Davis. For most of the past five years, she has been superintendent at Creve Coeur School District 76, which also has financial struggles that require new approaches.

“I’m excited about the opportunity,” Davis said.

During her time in Creve Coeur, Davis said, the district had three balanced budgets, doubled reserve funds, garnered $2 million in grants and contributions, all while starting curriculum collaboration with other school districts. She noted such progress requires a group commitment, and shared a letter she sent to teachers as recognition of their hard work.

“We designed and implemented a mental health program in partnership with the Center for Prevention of Abuse that is receiving national recognition,” the letter says, in part.

Her time in Creve Coeur was also marked by political struggles. Davis was placed in administrative leave in January 2010, scheduled to be replaced by Canton educator Lan Ebersole, then given a five-year contract after a new School Board was seated in May of that year.

“I enjoy working with Jeanne,” said Becky Kern, one of the newly-elected Creve Coeur board members. “She really did a lot of good for us. . . she just tells it like it is. That’s what the political problem was.”

Davis said she is sad about leaving Creve Coeur “for a variety of reasons,” but a lot of good work was done there. She said Lewistown officials understand the situation.

  2. How about the Owner of this site post the whole story with the source!!!. This story is in the Peoria Journal Star, but the Owner of this site picks and chooses what she posts just like she used to when she was on the school board. This community needs to know the truth about this site and they will. Pam Greiner owns this site and video tapes all the meetings. Pam Greiner is the sister of Linda Bailey. Pam Greiner is a former board member that was not re-elected 2 years ago and CANNOT be elected this year. Linda Bailey is up for re-election this year. Please put a stop to this nonsense. The people of Creve Coeur are tired of these sisters. Please find something else to do in your retirement like Florida. You could go with your buddy Don Blockler.
